Getting your teeth cleaned is a vital part of your preventative dental care. When you have regular cleanings you are protecting the health of your gums and teeth. During your cleaning plaque and hardened tarter is removed from around the gumline, and in between your teeth to eliminate bacterial growth. This helps to reduce the risks of gum disease, tooth loss, and tooth decay. During your cleaning appointment we will take routine x-rays in order to identify decay between your teeth. Dr. Overberg will do an overall examination of the health of your teeth and oral cavity. If any treatment is necessary, we will provide you with a treatment plan after your exam.
How Often Should I Get My Teeth Cleaned?
Dr. Overberg recommends that you get a cleaning performed every 6 months to reduce the chance of developing cavities, or gingivitis or periodontal disease. If you have periodontal disease you may need to get them cleaned every 3 months.
